Monday 14 May 2012. Keynsham Lions agreed to support the local Youth Fest in the Memorial Park on 22 September with one bouncy inflatable.

 

Monday 14 May 2012. 'Butterflies' is a local Club for autistic children and their families. Keynsham Lions agreed to support them with developing a link with music therapy within their group.

 

Monday 14 May 2012. Two lads from the local Leisure Centre will be taking part in a youth exchange programme organised by the Royal Life Saving International Youth Exchange. Keynsham Lions members agreed to provide some financial assistance for their exchange and learning skills venture. 

 

Monday 14 May 2012. Keynsham Lions Club support the Gambia and Avon Fire Services in Partnership (GAFSIP) charity with £200. The charity recycle Fire Engines, medical equipment and support equipment for further use in the Gambia. 

 

Saturday 5 May 2012. Seven members from Keynsham Lions Club attended Multiple District Convention weekend with their partners at the Metropole Hotel, Birmingham to welcome their fellow member Lion Harry Smith as District Governor 2012-2013 with razmataz confetti cannon, whistles and Status Quo music. Saturday 31 March 2012. Keynsham Lions played hosts to 35 children from the local Mencap Society along with 22 volunteer helpers when they took the party by coach from Fry Club for a day-out at Puxton Park activity centre near Weston Super Mare. 

 

Saturday 24 March 2012. Keynsham Lions Club sponsored the hire of the pool at Keynsham Leisure Centre today for the local Mencap groups annual Seals Swimming Gala. The Lions helped with the medal ceremony presentations after the big swim.

 

Monday 12 March 2012. Members of Keynsham Lions are arranging for a team of 10/12 people to join with teams from the West and Wales to take part in the 2012 Bob Cook Memorial Games on 12 August. Once again the club are supporting the games for the disabled with a financial donation.

Monday 12 March 2012. Keynsham Lions agree to provide the financial support for the hire of the pool to host the Seals Swimming Gala at the Leisure Centre on Saturday 24 March 2012.

 

Friday 9 March 2012. Racing came to town with the Lions Race Night at the Royal British Legion where race goers gathered for a night of thrills and spills determined to beat the tote with eight races, video entertainment and a buffet selection for the crowds. The evening was sponsored by Electrio and raised over £600 for the Lions charities.

Monday 9 January 2012. Keynsham Lions agree to round-up the Philippines Flood Disaster donation to £500.

 

Saturday 24 December 2011. Members of Keynsham Lions Club were out in the town today collecting for the Philippines Flood Disaster which happened last weekend. The £456.01 collected will go to the disaster area via Lions Clubs International Foundation.

 

Monday 19 December. 56 members, partners, friends and guests of Keynsham Lions Club held their Christmas Party at Fry Club.

 

Sunday 18 December. Keynsham Lions Club was requested take a reading at the St. Mary's Church, Saltford during their Christmas Story carol and reading service. Lion Alan read Matthew 2 V1-11 'Travellers Come From The East'.

 

Wednesday 16 December 2011. Keynsham Lions Club supported the Lions Clubs International Million Tree Planting initiative with a partnership arrangement with Bath and North East Somerset Council for planting 65 trees in the local Keynsham Memorial Park.

 

Monday 12 December. Keynsham Lions Club agreed to donate £100 to the LCIF Measles initiative and support the RUH Breast Cancer Unit in Bath. A local resident will receive practical support with carpets and curtains.

 

Sunday 11 December. A partners coffee morning collected £77 towards Alzheimer's Research. 

 

Monday 5 December 2011. On a cold and crisp evening Keynsham Lions Sleigh started two weeks of touring the local area with their first visit to the Chandag Road area with Father Christmas and his collectors. The final evening on Wednesday 21 December was the Lockingwell Road area of Keynsham.

 

Saturday 3 December 2011. Keynsham Lions Club had their Carol Sleigh with Father Christmas at Keynsham Clock Tower. Father Christmas welcomed the children and had his picture taken with parents and children while handing out chocolate gifts.

 

Saturday 3 December 2011. Keynsham Lions Club manned a Christmas Pudding stall at Saltford Christmas Market selling small, medium and large Lions Christmas Puddings.

 

Sunday 27 November. The annual trolley dash took place at the Co-operative Supermarket, Keynsham. Won by Mrs Christine Prideaux, the family rushed around the store to scoop several trolleys worth of groceries which Christine plans to share through St. John's Church with the Sisters of Mercy based in Bristol.

Friday 25 November 2011. The rain held off as members of Keynsham Lions Club took to the High Street for the annual Victorian Night. With the town closed-off to traffic, the Lions operated their Father Christmas Sleigh and the pig roast stall. The Queen's Nose game is always a favourite with children and to round off the evening in preparation for Christmas, the sale of Christmas Puddings created the approaching festive spirit.

 

 

 

Sunday 13 November 2011. Lion members joined the act of remembrance at the Keynsham Memorial Gates. Lion members from across the country joined the London Remembrance Parade at The Cenotaph, Whitehall.

 

 

 

Wednesday 9 November 2011. A Keynsham pupil will have a much easier life with his studies thanks to the purchase of a Fizz Book by members of Keynsham Lions Club. With a genetic condition known as Neurofibromatosis it is sometimes difficult to control personal actions. The Fizz Book is a computer will all the usual facilities but is built to have very high build properties against dropping or damage. President Lion Brian and Welfare Chairperson Lion Stephanie presented the computer to Daniel at the school with his parents and teaching staff present.

 

Tuesday 25 October 2011. Partners of Keynsham Lions Club delivered 70 Christmas Shoeboxes and sacks of clothing to the Aid Ukraine depot for delivery to the children at Christmas in the Zhorane Region of North West Ukraine still suffering from radiation of the Chernobyl disaster.

 

Sunday 9 October 2011. President Brian and three members of Keynsham Lions Club with their partners attended the District Service of Dedication and Thanksgiving hosted by Barry Lions Club.

 

 

  Saturday 8 October 2011.   Keynsham Lions Club played host to an evening of music at St. John's Parish Church with proceeds towards 'East Africa Famine Relief'. The Mendip Male Voice Choir supported by the Bel Canto choir from Bradford-on-Avon provided a thrilling repertoire of music for the 200 strong responsive audience. During the evening, the two choirs gave their own musical performances with Mendip's soloist Hannah Lockwood singing four pieces and Dora Bishop gave a solo rendering of Broadway Baby. The combined choirs of 75 members performed, 'The Lord is my Shepherd'. The concert was performed in memory of Lion Les Smith who had arranged the concert but did not survive to see the evening.

Saturday 24 September 2011. Partners of Keynsham Lions Club and friends raised £342 at a Curry Evening held at the home of Lion Harry and Ruth.

 

Monday 12 September 2011. Keynsham Lions support The Severn Project, a local project to help people in the area who are disadvantaged by illness or past offending behaviour to get back into society.

Monday 11 July 2011. Keynsham Lions support the Rainbow Centre for Children providing free and professional services to children and families affected by bereavement, life threatening illness and cancer.

 

Saturday 9 July 2011. Keynsham Lions collected £1126 in the High Street and at the Co-operative Supermarket for the East Africa Famine Appeal. Thank you to the local residents for this wonderful contribution.

 

Sunday 3rd July 2011. At the Keynsham Music Festival in the Memorial Park, the annual Keynsham Lions Duck Race attracted huge crowds. Now in its 15th year, 2000 family ducks were released at 3.45pm together with their 43 larger corporate members of the duck family sponsored by local trader. The 500 yard dash downstream brought crowds of supporters while the catering marquee did good business all day and the children tried their luck dropping coins on the Queen's nose and opening the box with the magic key. With wonderful weather, the afternoon continued with more music until late into the evening. Thank you to all our supporters including the Co-operative, Keynsham for the pre-event ticket selling table and the corporate winner, 'Special Day and Appletons', High Street, Keynsham. The winning family duck was owned by Mr Lau, the second place was Mrs Denness and third place was Mrs Bridgeman.

Monday 27 June 2011. At the Handover Dinner, outgoing President Lion Alan Hale spoke of the past two years as President of Keynsham Lions Club and his appreciation for the dedication to service of the members. He thanked the club for his personal MJF Award and his end of term financial gift which had been forwarded to Keynsham Baptist Church. Alan handed the chain of office to Lion Brian Worlock to take the Club into the 42nd year. Brian handed out his Directors Pin Badges and rallied the Club to continue with the work so appreciated locally and nationally.

Monday 27 June 2011. Keynsham Lions Partners gave their fund raising money for the year to the RUH Breast Unit (£450) and the Kanami Development Trust (£150) committed to provide clean water, sanitation, essential food stuffs, education, health care and self sufficiency. Details

 

Monday 13 June 2011. Keynsham Lions Club member support a local girl with financial assistance to attend the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden.

 

Monday 13 June 2011. Keynsham Lions Club members support the Bristol-based Hop Skip and Jump day care and supervised play for children with special needs and their families.

 

Saturday 11 June 2011. Keynsham Lions Club members attended the Saltford Festival with a PR display and worked to prepare the 'Big Breakfast' for the Festival goers. Out-of-season, the members did a trade with selling Christmas Puddings!

 


Friday 20 May 2011. Charter Anniversary

Seventy guests attended Redwood Hotel, Failand to celebrate the 41st Charter Anniversary of Keynsham Lions Club. District Governor Lion Colin Duncan received the toast to Lions Clubs International and the main speaker was MP North East Somerset, Jacob Rees-Mogg.

President Lion Alan Hale outlined the work of the worldwide organisation with Clubs in 206 countries and how the local Club in Keynsham is most fortunate to be able to call on the local community to raise funds to assist international disaster through to local needs. He thanked the people of Keynsham and Saltford for their support over the last 41 years.

The formal part of the evening concluded with DG Lion Colin requesting a photograph for his years album with Lion President Alan and Jane. Once assembled, DG Colin then launched into the real purpose of the photo call and presented Lion President Alan with a Melvin Jones Fellowship from his fellow club members with the citation for Alan's unquestioned service to the community as a member of Keynsham Lions Club. 

The presentation came as a great surprise to Alan and with some emotion he responded with a grateful and humbling thank you.

The evening continued past midnight with dancing to 'Time Machine'.

Saturday 14 May 2011. Keynsham Lions played hosts to 30 children from the local Mencap Society along with volunteer helpers took the party by coach from Fry Club, Keynsham for a day-out at Puxton Park activity centre near Weston Super Mare.

 

Monday 9 May 2011. Keynsham Lions provided some financial help for a local lad to attend a residential course.

 

Monday 9 May 2011. Local opticians have collected 650 used spectacles which Keynsham Lions forwarded to the UK Lions collecting point in Chichester.

 

Monday 25 April. Keynsham Lions partners raised £50 at a Car Boot sale book stall.

 

Saturday 19 March 2011. Keynsham Lions Club collect £2425 at the Co-operative Supermarket and in the High Street during the week for the Lions Clubs International Japan Earthquake Appeal.

 

Saturday 19 March 2011. The partners raised another £125 at their coffee morning at Bakersfield for donations towards breast cancer and the Kanamai Development Trust.

Saturday 12 March. Keynsham Lions collected £620 for the Japan Earthquake Appeal at the Co-operative Supermarket.

 

Friday 4 March 2011. Keynsham Lions Club hosted horse racing for the town at Fry Club, with plenty of thrills and spills and comedy clips at the annual Race Night. The evening was rated a great success with thanks to Electrio for sponsoring the event. The evening raised £500 for the Lions Charities.

During the evening Lion President Alan presented a Melvin Jones Fellowship Award to Phil Brown of Electrio for the 15 years service of support and help to Keynsham Lions Club.

 

Monday 14 February 2011. Keynsham Lions support St. Dunstan's with £250. Working in partnership, the Lions of the British Isles and Ireland are committed to support the only organisation specifically committed to the rehabilitation of Servicemen, both current and past, who have been blinded in combat or whose sight has deteriorated over time. Lions Clubs of MD 105 will raise at least £50,000 towards the cost and dedication of a Day Room within a new Rehabilitation and Training Centre being built by St Dunstan’s in Llandudno, North Wales.

 

Monday 14 February 2011. At their February Meeting, Keynsham Lions supported the Salvation Army; the New Opportunities Trust; Penny Brohn Cancer Care and Music for the Deaf.

Monday 10 January 2011. Keynsham Lions Club provide a new Bambach Saddle Chair for a disabled youngster.

 

December 2010. Keynsham Lions Club toured the town with their Carol Sleigh over the two week period and made calls at Sainsburys and Morrisons Supermarkets.

 

Sunday 5 December. Keynsham Lions Trolley Dash took place at the Co-op Supermarket after closing time. The winner was Shirley Townsend pictured with her daughter-in-law, Alicia and grandson, James. The groceries collected totaled £250 and the Co-op donated two bottles of spirit. Alicia said 'they would be donating a ham that was part of their collected groceries to Julian House'. The Lions Club thank John Haskins and his staff at the Co-op Supermarket for allowing the event in store.

 

Friday 26 November. Despite the bitterly cold weather, Keynsham Lions members braved the High Street for the annual Victorian Night. With the town closed-off to traffic, the Lions operated their Father Christmas Sleigh and several stalls including the pig roast which went well in view of the weather conditions. The Christmas Pudding stall is a new venture and provided a dessert for the evening.

Monday 8 November. Keynsham Lions Club supports Weston-Super-Mare Lifeboat Appeal, the Bristol Air Ambulance, the local Time-Out organisation and £600 towards, 'Help for Heroes'.

Donations also made to Lions Sight-Savers, Medic Alert, Tacade and Lions Clubs International Foundation.

 

 

Tuesday 26 October. Partners of Keynsham Lions Club delivered 120 Shoeboxes to the Aid Ukraine depot for delivery to the children at Christmas in the Zhorane Region of North West Ukraine still suffering from radiation of the Chernobyl disaster.

 

Saturday 16 October 2010.   Keynsham Lions Club played host to an evening of music at St. John's Parish Church with proceeds towards 'Help for Heroes', supporting our wounded armed forces personnel. Aberhonddu Male Voice Choir from Brecon joined with the Mendip Male Voice Choir to perform in concert. During the evening, the two choirs gave their own musical performances with Mendip's soloist Hannah Lockwood singing three pieces and a finale by the combined choirs of 75 members performed, 'Softly as I leave you' and 'American Trilogy' accompanied by the church organ. The concert arranged by Lion Les Smith was declared a wonderful evening by the responsive audience on leaving the Church.

Monday 11 October.  Keynsham Lions Club agree to provide £1000 with support for the Kanamai Development Trust committed to provide clean water, sanitation, essential food stuffs, education, health care and self sufficiency. Details

9 to 17 October 2010. The Riverside Offices in Temple Street, Keynsham has a Lions display on show during Lions Awareness Week including pictures of the Lions work in the earthquake areas of Haiti and the flooding in Pakistan.

Friday 8 October 2010. The partners of Keynsham Lions Club presented a cheque for £800 to the local Hop, Skip and Jump South West Charity, the play and support centre for children with special needs and their families.  

Saturday 18 September. Keynsham Lions Club played hosts to children and their carers from the Keynsham Junior Gateway Club at Barton Camp, Winscombe. Monday 13 September. Keynsham Lions Club support the Bristol Children's Help Society with a £500 donation towards their work at Barton Camp.

Saturday 7 August 2010. Keynsham Lions Club members were out in force collecting for the Pakistan Floods Appeal in the High Street and at the Co-operative Supermarket. The total collection was £1685 to assist Lions Clubs in Pakistan working through Lions Clubs International Foundation. The club rounded this to £2000 for the flood relief work. Monday 12 July. Keynsham Lions support a local resident with specialist treatment in London, the 'Gift for Living' aid appeal for children in Rumania and a Clifton self help cancer group.

Sunday 4th July. At the Keynsham Music Festival in the Memorial Park, the annual Keynsham Lions Duck Race attracted huge crowds. Now in its fourteenth year, 2190 family ducks were released at 3.45pm together with their larger corporate members of the duck family sponsored by local trader. The 500 yard dash downstream brought crowds of supporters while the catering marquee did good business all day and the children tried their luck dropping coins on the Queen's nose and opening the box with the magic key. With wonderful weather which gave way to a slight shower at teatime, the afternoon continued with more music until late into the evening. Thank you to all our supporters including the Co-operative, Keynsham for the pre-event ticket selling table and the corporate winner: Simply Carpets, Temple Street, Keynsham.

Friday 28 May. Eighty guests attended Redwood Hotel, Failand to celebrate the 40th Charter Anniversary of Keynsham Lions Club. District Governor Elect Lion Colin Duncan received the toast to Lions Clubs International and the main speaker was Immediate Past Chairman, Bath and North East Somerset, Councillor Bryan Chalker.

President Lion Alan Hale outlined the work of the worldwide organisation with Clubs in 205 countries and how the local Club in Keynsham had served the local area over the last 40 years.

The formal part of the evening concluded with Lion President Alan presenting a Melvin Jones Fellowship from the Club to David Williams with the citation for dedicated service to Keynsham Lions Club over 33 years.

The evening continued past midnight with dancing to 'Rio'.

Monday 9 May. Keynsham Lions Club agree to support the Small Steps Nursery, Easton under Canvas and the purchase of large print hymnbooks for Linden Close dwelling complex.

Sunday 8 May. The partners of Keynsham Lions Club raise £180 at a cream tea afternoon.

Monday 12 April. Keynsham Lions support the Junior Mencap Club for 20 children to attend a Circomedia workshop to learn about the art of the big top thrills and spills.

Saturday 13 March. Keynsham Lions donate £250 to the 'Hope for Tomorrow' mobile cancer unit at 105W District Convention in Hereford.

Tuesday 23 February 2010. This years Darts Dash winners were the Seven Stars Inn at Timsbury and the Trophy was presented at a social evening of Lion members, guests and regulars.

Weekend 16 January 2010. Keynsham Lions Club members and friends were out in force collecting for the Haiti Earthquake disaster appeal raising £3598 to assist Lions Clubs International Foundation working on the ground through Lions Clubs in Haiti. More information can be sourced from here.

Saturday 19th December 2009. Keynsham Lions completed  their evening tours with the Carol Sleigh together with static collection displays at Keynsham Clock Tower and the supermarkets of the Co-op, Sainsburys and Morrisons. President Alan said, "thank you to the community of Keynsham and Saltford for the tremendous support and response we get to this annual event and allowing the Lions to continue with their local and national charity work. Keynsham Lions are proud to be one of 45,040 Lions Clubs of Lions Clubs International, the largest service club organisation in 205 countries of the world".

Sunday 6 December. Keynsham Lions Club, hosted an afternoon for disabled and elderly people at the annual shopping trip to the Co-op Supermarket for the start to the festive season with mince pies, sherry and carol singing with Keynsham Brownies. Coach transport and mini-buses toured the town collecting the guests. Keynsham Town Band provided the carol music and Father Christmas handed out gifts to the visitors. A big thank you to John, the Store Manager and his staff and Lion Peter for arranging the afternoon.

Monday 9 November. Keynsham Lions agreed to support Children's Hospice South West at Charlton Farm, Wraxall with a further £500 donation.

Thursday 29 October. Partners of Keynsham Lions Club delivered 85 Shoeboxes to the Aid Ukraine depot for delivery to the children at Christmas in the Zhorane Region of North West Ukraine still suffering from radiation of the Chernobyl disaster.

Saturday 17 October. Keynsham Lions Club played hosts to children and their carers from the Keynsham Junior Gateway Club at Barton Camp, Winscombe. 

Thursday 8 October. Keynsham Lions support Lions Awareness Week and World Sight Day with a display in 'Specsavers' High Street shop including used spectacle collections and another display in the local Co-op Supermarket. The Club agreed to sponsor an Eye Camp.

Saturday 3 October - Friday 9 October. Collections for the Samoa Tsunami and Indonesia Earthquake raised £1021 in the Town.

Keynsham Lions Club played host with an evening of music at St. John's Parish Church to a 350 strong audience led by Keynsham Chairman of Council Councillor Roy Staddon. Launceston Male Voice Choir was formed in 1969 and they combined their annual long weekend away with joining Mendip Male Voice Choir to perform in Keynsham. During the evening, the two choirs gave their own musical performances with Mendip's soloist Hannah Lockwood singing four pieces and a finale by the combined choirs of 75 members performed American Trilogy and Nessun Dorma. The evening arranged by Lion Les Smith was declared a big success by the responsive audience on leaving the Church.

 

Monday 14 September. Belarus is one of the poorest countries in Europe, and has very few natural resources with which to create wealth. It is still very severely affected by the Chernobyl catastrophe of 1986. Keynsham Lions Club agreed to support an orphanage for between 150 and 200 children in Babichi, a country area about an hour from the city of Gomel. The orphanage is also a school, and the children are there the whole of the time. The inside walls are always damp, and much of the time are running with water. Therefore, the children suffer incessantly from coughs, colds, flu, bronchitis, asthma, etc., and it is impossible to improve their conditions until the roof is re-built. Lions financial aid throughout the British Isles and Ireland will go towards this project.

August/September. Partners and friends of Keynsham Lions are collecting Christmas Shoeboxes for Aid Ukraine.

Monday 10th August. Keynsham Lions Club pledge support for Keynsham Girl Guides, MacMillan Cancer Support and St. Peter's Hospice. Tacade packs have been delivered to eight schools in the Keynsham/Saltford area.

Sunday 5th July. At the Keynsham Music Festival in Memorial Park, the annual Keynsham Lions Duck Race attracted huge crowds. Now in its thirteenth year, 2160 ducks were released at 4pm together with 38 of their larger corporate members of the duck family all sponsored by local trader. The 500 yard dash downstream brought crowds of supporters while the catering marquee did good business all day and the children tried their luck dropping coins on the Queen's nose and opening the box with the magic key. With wonderful weather, late afternoon clouds developed but soon gave way to an evening of more music until late into the evening. Thank you to all our supporters including the Co-operative, Keynsham for the pre-event ticket selling table and the corporate winner: Keynsham Photographic, Charlton Road.

Monday 29th June. Teams of Lion members and friends walked Bath City during an evening walking Treasure Hunt and dropping off at Garfunkles for refreshments. Thank you to Chris and Ron for the arrangements.

Monday 22nd June. At the Handover Dinner, outgoing President Lion Harry Smith spoke of the past year as President of Keynsham Lions Club and the work of the members. He said,  "I complete my year of office as President this month and it has been great to lead a Lions Club that is so active in the community and that is helping to make better lives for many people or to provide them with opportunities as groups.  We are an organisation where not one penny is taken from what we raise for administration, every penny goes to the good of others.  I would also take this opportunity to thanks the people of Keynsham and Saltford for their continued generous support of the Keynsham Lions and everything we seek to achieve, achievements that can only be realised with that community support".

He also thanked all the members, their partners and friends of Keynsham Lions Club and paid tribute for the many hours of voluntary work throughout the 39th year of the Club.

Monday 22nd June. Partners of Keynsham Lions Club raised £700 in support of the Breast Screening Unit at the Royal United Hospital, Bath and the Support Dogs Appeal.

Friday 22nd May. Seventy Lions and guests attended Keynsham Lions Club 39th Charter Anniversary at the Centurion Hotel, Fosseway, Midsomer Norton with music into the early hours by Platinum Duo. 

Among the guests were vistors from Radstock and Midsomer Norton, Bristol Brunel, Calne, Chipping Sodbury, Bradley Stoke Branch, Chippenham and Sliema (Malta) Clubs

Rated a huge success, the highlight of the evening was the presentation of a large stage cheque to District Governor Lion Surinder Malhotra by President Lion Harry Smith. Keynsham Club is a 'progressive model club' and made the final £3,233 cheque presentation towards Campaign SightFirst II, the Lions worldwide programme to combat preventable blindness. The Club has previously donated £5,080 to the programme.

Friday 1st May. Bolognia Lions and their partners were visiting the UK and arranged a social evening with Keynsham Lions in Bath.

  • Meningitis UK with its campaign to raise £7m to develop a vaccine against Meningitis B. 

  • Water Aid's 2009 to 2015 project to overcome poverty and gain access to safe water.

  • Local young person's community work in Malawi.

March 2009. Twenty Lions Easter Eggs are on display around the Town inviting ticket sales to be drawn at Easter in support of Keynsham Lions Club charities.

Friday 6th March. The Lions Race Night at Fry Club raised over £965 towards Campaign SightFirst II. In 2008, the British Isles and Ireland Lions Clubs forged a partnership with the Moorfields Eye Hospital, London to build a CSFII surgical Eye Centre at Korle Bu, Ghana to control avoidable blindness and combat emerging threats to sight.

Saturday 21 February 2009. Partners and friends raise £67 at a Coffee morning.

Saturday 20th December 2008. Keynsham Lions completed  their evening tours with the Carol Sleigh together with static collection displays at Keynsham Clock Tower and the supermarkets of the Co-op, Sainsburys and Morrisons. 

Sunday 7 December. Keynsham Lions Club, hosted ninety disabled and elderly people at the annual shopping trip to Leos Supermarket for the start to the festive season with mince pies, sherry and carol singing with Keynsham Brownies. Keynsham Town Band provided the carol music and Father Christmas handed out gifts to the guests. A big thank you to the store Manager and his staff and Lion Sheila for arranging the afternoon.

Friday 28th November. Keynsham Lions had a good turn out at the towns annual Victorian Evening. Father Christmas was towed through the High Street by half a dozen reindeer before climbing aboard the Lions Sleigh to meet the huge queue of children waiting to have their few minutes of wonder. The dry weather and the Lions Pig Roast and side shows helped to provide entertainment for the crowds that walked the town.

Tuesday 25th November. The Lions Darts Dash at the Compton Inn, Compton Dando was a great success and puts their team in the lead so far from teams around the town.

Sunday 9th November. Lion members join the act of remembrance at the Keynsham Memorial Gates. Lion members from our District joined the London Remembrance Parade, Whitehall.

 

 

November 1st. Partners, friends and members of Keynsham Lions Club have collected 80 shoeboxes boxes this year for the Aid Ukraine Christmas Shoebox Appeal.

 The local collection has taken place for many years with knitted cardigans, soft toys and assorted clothes to help provide humanitarian aid to the poor and needy in Zhorane, part of the Volhyn province of the Ukraine this coming Christmas.

Friday 24th October to Monday 27th October. This year the annual Club four day weekend visited Cambridge, Ely, Duxford and the Constable Country of Flatford Mill, Lavenham, Long Melford, Cavendish and Clare. The trip to Cambridge included a cruise on the Thames at Windsor and a look around London.

Saturday 27th September. Keynsham Lions Club played hosts to children and their carers from the Keynsham Junior Gateway Club at Barton Camp, Winscombe. The children enjoyed the pool facilities and the games park in between indoor sports and the ever popular dining room. A coach was arranged to transport the children from Keynsham to Winscombe and return. With another wing completed at Barton Camp, the Bristol Children's Help Society are looking to attract many more corporate and voluntary organisations to experience their facilities and increase visitor numbers to 3500 by 2010.

September/ October. The partners are busy collecting and filling 'shoeboxes' for the charity Aid Ukraine in preparation for delivery to the children before Christmas. Please bring completed shoeboxes to the October 27th dinner meeting.

 

Thursday 22nd July to Friday 1st August. Six Youth Exchange guests visited the local Lions Clubs before they departed for the Lions Youth Camp in the New Forest. Two guests stayed with Keynsham members and had a wonderful time visiting the local sights in Bristol, Bath and beyond. DG Surinder attended their barbeque held in Saltford and their farewell evening was a challenge skittle match at Midsomer Norton.

Lions Harry and Stephanie travelled with the guests, pictured at the Observatory, Bristol are Tobias from Germany, Ruggero from Italy, Juan from Argentina, Mayumi from Japan, Melissa from France and Isabel from Austria before setting of to visit the SS Great Britain.

 

 

Monday 14th July. Keynsham Lions support 'Sense', the national voluntary organization working with and supporting people of all ages who are deafblind or have associated disabilities.

Sunday 6th July. At the Keynsham Music Festival in Memorial Park, the annual Keynsham Lions Duck Race attracted huge crowds during an overcast day. Now in its twelfth year, 2000 ducks were released at 4pm together with their larger corporate members of the duck family all sponsored by local trader. The 500 yard dash downstream brought crowds of supporters while the catering marquee did good business all day and the children tried their luck dropping coins on the Queen's nose and opening the box with the magic key. With the afternoon drawing to a close, the rain started to lash down including thunder and lightning, which pulled in more crowds into the marquee for shelter and tea. It soon cleared up with time for an evening tidy up and time for bed.

Monday 23rd June. The incoming President of Keynsham Lions Club, Lion Harry Smith was inducted at the annual Handover Dinner attended by members, partners and guests. Outgoing President Lion Peter Wood handed over the chain of office to commence the 39th year of the Club sharing the International theme for 2008-2009 'Miracles through Service'. Monday 9th June. Local Keynsham and Saltford schools have demonstrated support for the Lions Tacade Partnership initiative.

Tuesday 8th January 2008. President Peter and Lions presented the Winners Trophy of the 2007 Lions Darts Dash Competition to the British Legion at a social evening. The British Legion have promised support for the next event with several of their teams competing. 

Saturday 22nd December 2007. Keynsham Lions completed  their twelve tour routes, together with a day at Leos Supermarket and the three Keynsham Clock Tower collections with the Carol Sleigh in time for a well earned rest for the reindeers before the Christmas Day celebrations. Included in this years Lions charity work, we supported the Castle Hill Primary School for the benefit of children with learning difficulties.

Friday 30 November. Keynsham Lions had a good turn out at the towns annual Victorian Evening. A night of continual rain did not disappoint those children that ventured out into the High Street to see half a dozen real reindeer upstage the Lions reindeer who looked on at their new found look-alikes. Father Christmas arrived on the Lions Sleigh and the Lions Pig Roast and side shows helped to provide entertainment for the brave souls that walked the town.
November. The Lions Charity Darts Dash hit the pubs in the Town for the first time this year, during the last two weeks of November. The Jolly Sailor, The Charlton and the British Legion have so far taken part, all competing for the annual trophy - finding a wooden spoon was difficult!
Sunday 11 November. President, Keynsham Lions Club and members paraded through the High Street and placed a wreath during the annual act of remembrance at the Memorial Park Gates. 
Wednesday 24 October. Partners and friends of Keynsham Lions Club delivered 100 Christmas Shoeboxes to the depot of Aid Ukraine for onward delivery to children in time for Christmas. Included in the deliveries were food parcels, boxes of toiletries, jumpers and scarves, blankets and toys. To the children and parents in Ukraine, most of these gifts are considered as luxuries.

Monday 8 October. Keynsham Lions support the Great Britain team of 150 learning disabled athletes travelling to the Special Olympics in Shanghai, China.  Support has also been given to a local youngster representing Great Britain in the Acrogymnastics European Championships. 
Monday 10 September. Keynsham Lions support the Nevada Death Valley challenge of six marathons in six days in aid of the neo natal intensive care unit at the Bristol Children's Hospital.

Saturday/Sunday 8/9 September. Keynsham Lions played hosts to 24 children plus their 12 carers from the Junior Gateway Club at Barton Camp, Winscombe.  The children enjoyed the pool facilities and the games park in between indoor sports and the ever popular dining room. The weather was wonderful and the big children, disguised as Lions also had a good time in the pool !            

While the children had fun in the pool supervised by Lion members and helpers, the   working partners prepare the meals. 

Monday 13 August. Keynsham Lions support The British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK in memory of Lion Geof Ridout.
Monday 13 August. Keynsham Lions ratified the earlier requirement for financial support to the flooded areas of Gloucestershire.
Monday 13 August. Keynsham Lions support the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the RUH, Bath. The project is for a purpose built and spacious unit to radically improve the care environment of the special tiny patients and their families during the infants life-saving care they need in the very early stages of their lives.
Tuesday 24 July. Lions in the local area welcomed Youth Exchange guests from abroad for 10 days before they departed to meet all their fellow visitors from across the country at the Lions Youth Camp, Canterbury. 

Sunday 8th July. At the Annual Keynsham Music Festival in Memorial Park, the four stages packed in 14,000 people from midday through until 11pm. The annual Keynsham Lions Duck Race, now in it's eleven year, enjoyed super weather as 2100 ducks were released into the river together with their 40 larger corporate ducks for the 500yard swim down-stream. The catering marquee did good business all day, while the children tried their luck dropping coins on the Queen's nose and opening the box with the magic key. New for 2007 were the children's stilts, on sale at £6 each and get one free! 

Monday 25th June 2007. All change at Keynsham Lions Club. Lion Peter Wood was inducted as the new President during the Annual Handover Dinner held at Fry Club. Outgoing President Lion Brian Worlock welcomed the new President and Rita at the start of the Clubs 38th year. Peter and Rita welcomed all members and partners to a year of fun and fellowship in keeping with the message 'Enjoy being a Lion'.

June 2007. Keynsham Lions are busy selling tickets for the annual duck race held in the Memorial Park during the Keynsham Music Festival on Sunday 8th July.  2100 plastic ducks will take to the water with their larger Corporate ducks, sponsored by local businesses.

Monday 11 June. Keynsham Lions have supported Keynsham and District Mencap Society replacement mini-bus appeal and the day trip to Chew Valley Lake organised by the local Age Concern day centre.

 

Friday 25th May. Eight Clubs visited Keynsham Charter Anniversary at the Centurion Hotel, Fosseway. 88 guests attended headed by DG Lion Adrian and danced into the early hours to 'Revival'. The partners presented a cheque for £1000 to Margaret for her appeal of the year, MS Research. Thank you for supporting Keynsham Lions Club.

Seals Swimming Gala. Lion President Brian attended and presented the awards and prizes.
Saturday 12th May. Partners Coffee morning took the money raised for the 105W Partners appeal for MS Research to over £1000.
Monday 23rd April. Keynsham Lions raised over £300 at the Silent Auction Dinner Meeting for the MS Research Appeal.
Friday 13th April. Arranged by Keynsham Lions, jazz supporters young and old rocked away to the 7 piece Pete Allen Band at Fry Club. The fourth year of jazz yet again went down a storm.
Easter 2007. Large presentation Easter Eggs were placed around the Town and the lucky winners drawn.
Friday/Sunday March 9/11th March. Six members and their partners attended the District Convention in Swindon
March 2nd. Keynsham Lion took delivery of the large presentation Easter Eggs for distribution to Lions outlets in the area.
Friday 2nd March. Another successful Lions Race Night at the British Legion attracted over 100 people to an evening of horse racing from all the best courses in Town. With the latest performance form of all the runners from the paddock to interviews with jockeys and guests in the enclosure all out for a flutter. Another fund raiser for Lions Charities sponsored by Electrio Ltd.

February/March. Lion members accepted the invitation to view the new Children's Hospice South West at Charlton Farm, Wraxall with a tour of the new premises and grounds. Tours take place until 17th March followed by a special tour on 28/29 March before the Hospice opens for families in April.

Monday 27th February. Keynsham Lions welcomed new member David at the monthly dinner meeting.
January 2007. Keynsham Lions agreed to add another £3000 to make a £5000 donation to the new RUH CT Scanner Appeal by the Forever Friends Appeal at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.

Sunday 23rd December 2006. Keynsham Lions completed their twelve tour routes, together with a day at Leos Supermarket and the three Keynsham Clock Tower collections with the Carol Sleigh in time for a well earned rest for the reindeers before the Christmas Day celebrations. 

Thank you Keynsham and Saltford for the tremendous response we get to this annual event and allowing the Lions to continue with their local and national charity work. Included in this years Lions charity work, we supported the appeal for a second CT scanner at the Radiology Department at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.

The first scanner is running at maximum capacity, 7 days a week, performing about 1000 scans a month. The second scanner will enable the unit to double the scans and give the very best patient care.

Friday 24th November. Father Christmas arrived early in Keynsham at the annual street Victorian Evening. Having abseiled down the Parish Church spire, he made his way through the huge crowds to the Lions Carol Sleigh to welcome children and receive their letters of requests for Christmas Day delivery. The Lions also manned the pork rolls stall and invited revellers to 'find the lucky key' to open the box of winnings. Another successful evening which put the Lions in good spirits for the start of the Christmas Carol Sleigh rounds starting Monday 4th December for three weeks. 

 

 

Monday 13th November. Keynsham Lions agree to support the new CT Scanner Appeal by the Radiology Department at the Royal United Hospital, Bath with a donation of £2000. The cheque presentation shows Lion President Brian, Lions John Watts and Bernard Roberts investigating the inside workings of a scanner with Richard Gyde of RUH Forever Friends Appeal.

Sunday 12th November. President, Keynsham Lions Club and members paraded through the High Street and placed a wreath during the annual act of remembrance at the Memorial Park Gates. 

Friday 27th October. Partners and friends of Keynsham Lions delivered 102 Christmas Shoeboxes to the depot of Aid Ukraine for onward delivery to children in time for Christmas.
Wednesday 11th October 2006. Partners and friends of Keynsham Lions Club raised £231 towards the District Governor's wife's appeal for MS Research at an Open Day Bric-a-brac. The youngest prospective member of 9 months old joined with sampling the cooking delights!

Monday 11th September. Keynsham Lions donated £250 to LIBRA the Lions International Blood Research Appeal and £1000 to the local Jessie May Trust.

August 2006. Keynsham Lions have registered with Campaign SightFirst II as a Model Club.
Wednesday 16th August. Club President Brian Worlock gathered with fellow Club Presidents at the new Children's Hospice South West, Charlton Farm, Wraxall to witness the Lions cheque presentation of £84,128 for furnishing a multi-sensory room, a soft playroom and provide portable shower trolleys. The District Governors of District 105W and 105SW presented the Lions donation to the co-founder of CHSW, Eddie Farwell. Keynsham Lions contributed £7,460 and the partners of Keynsham Lions contributed the proceeds from their events directly to Children's Hospice South West.
Monday 24th July. The five youth exchange girls joined Lions and guests at the annual Barbecue before travelling to Hereford for the Lions Youth Camp organised by the District Lions for all the British Isles and Ireland youth exchange visitors.
Sunday 2nd July. Keynsham Lions 11th Annual Duck Race in the Memorial Park brought huge crowds on a glorious day to support the Music Festival and join in with the Duck Race at 3.45pm. 2000 plastic ducks with their larger family of Corporate Ducks took to the water, while the Lions catering marquee and stalls proved popular with the thousands of people who thronged to the all day event. The weather gave way to typical duck weather with a thunderstorm which 'flooded' the catering tent for refreshments.

Monday 26th June. Immediate Past President Lion Stephanie handed the Chain of Office to Lion Brian for 2006-2007. Her gift from the Club was a presentation to 'Support a Cow' in Africa with the particular request for bees and a hive.

Friday 19th May. The 'Midnight Shadows' played 'till the early hours at Keynsham Lions 36th Charter Anniversary, attended by DG Elect Adrian and 73 Lions and guests from seven Clubs at the Centurion Hotel.

March 18th. The partners of Keynsham Lions raised £80 at a coffee morning in Bakersfield, Longwell Green.

March 13th. Keynsham Lions Club has agreed to sponsor the hire of the Leisure Centre Pool for the Seals Gala on 28th April.

March 13th. The money raised to date by Keynsham Lions of £6,700 for the new Children's Hospice South West at Charlton Farm, Wraxall has been released making a total of £76,000 raised locally by Lions Clubs in the greater Bristol area to equip the new Soft Playroom and Multi Sensory Rooms. The Hospice will be ready to receive families early in 2007.
March 2006. Easter Eggs and Easter Bunnies have been distributed around the Town for the big Lions Easter Draw.
Friday 3rd March. The Race Night attracted a large crowd at the Royal British Legion in Keynsham to an evening of spills and thrills with good betting odds and a buffet supper of hay for the horses and carrots for the jockeys!
Monday 13th February. Keynsham Lions agreed to help the Baptist Church toddlers group.

December 2005. Keynsham Lions Club and their supporters started the Carol Sleigh evenings this year with a reservation in the High Street at the Victorian Night on 25th November to welcome Father Christmas to Keynsham. Three weeks of touring the local area and Saturday Clock Tower appearances left the reindeer (and the Lions!) in need of a good rest. Thank you Keynsham and Saltford for the tremendous response we get to this annual event and allowing the Lions to continue with their local and national charity work.
Tuesday 6th December. The annual evening Christmas Shopping Trip to Leos Supermarket (Co-op) arranged by Keynsham Lions Club, where disabled and elderly people enjoyed the festive evening starting with mince pies and sherry and carol singing by Keynsham Brownies. Excellent musical entertainment was provided by Keynsham Town Band and Father Christmas handed out gifts to our guests. A big thank you to the store Manager and staff who thought it was a super evening. Thank you to Lion Valerie.
Monday 21st November. With coffee mornings, a silent auction, glider flight and a bodyshop party, the partners of Keynsham Lions Club raised £584 over the 2004/2005 period towards the new Children's Hospice South West due for completion early 2007 at Charlton Farm, Wraxall.

Sunday 13th November. President Lion Stephanie and Keynsham Lion members gathered at the Memorial Park Gates to lay a wreath following the annual Armistice Day parade through the High Street from Keynsham Church. Other Keynsham Lion members were at the Menin Gate in Ypres, Belgium to view the many hundred wreathes laid on 11th November, many by local UK organisations and societies.

October 2005. Keynsham Lions collected and donated £2332 towards the Lions Clubs International Foundation relief work following the Pakistan Earthquake. A big thank you for supporting the High Street collection.

27th October. Partners, friends and members of Keynsham Lions Club have beaten their last years Christmas Shoebox target by collection 127 boxes this year for the Aid Ukraine Shoebox Appeal.

 The local collection has taken place for many years with support from schools and Townswomen's Guild members. The Shoeboxes, knitted cardigans, soft toys and assorted clothes were delivered to the collecting point on 27th October to help provide humanitarian aid to the poor and needy in the Volhyn region of the Ukraine this coming Christmas.

September 2005. Keynsham Lions have distributed 'Message in a Bottle' information, bottles and contacts in Chemists, Doctor's Surgeries and other outlets in Keynsham and Saltford. Two precinct displays were manned on Friday 16th and 23rd September. Collect your bottle today and store your critical medical details.
Weekend 10th/11th September. Keynsham Lions played hosts to children from the Junior Gateway Club plus their carers at Barton Camp, Winscombe. Traveling from Keynsham in two purpose built coaches, they arrived on Saturday morning for an action packed weekend in the pool and the sports activities provided plenty of fun which exhausted the Lions! The party broke up after tea on Sunday after a successful weekend.
Monday 25th July to Wednesday 4th August. Keynsham Lions played host to three Youth Exchange girls before they joined other young visitors from abroad at the 2005 Lions Youth Camp held at Lincoln University. The local farewell social evening at Frome was attended by five Lions Clubs and the girls received farewell gifts before they did some traditional singing. 
Sunday 10th July. Keynsham Lions 10th Annual Duck Race in the Memorial Park brought huge crowds on a glorious day to support the Music Festival and join in with the Duck Race at 4.20pm. 2200 plastic ducks with their larger family of Corporate Ducks took to the water, while the Lions catering marquee and stalls proved popular with the thousands of people who thronged to the all day event.    
Thursday 7th July. Keynsham Lions manned a Lions stall at the Health and Wellbeing day in Keynsham with a 'Message in a Bottle' presentation.

Saturday 2nd July. Lion President represented the Club at the inauguration of the new Keynsham Baptist Minister Rev. Michael Standbridge.

Monday 27th June. All change at Keynsham Lions Club. Lion Stephanie Louis was inducted as the new President at the Annual Handover Dinner held at Fry Club. Outgoing President Lion Ken Hawker welcomed the new President at the start of the Clubs 36th year and two ornamental trees were presented to Ken and Pauline as a token of the Club's thanks for the last twelve months.

Friday 20th May. Keynsham Lions Charter Anniversary Dinner and Dance was attended by 68 Lions, partners and guests with music by The Midnight Shadows. Supported by the four other Clubs in the Zone, the formal business concluded with DG Lion Alan presenting a Melvin Jones Fellowship Award to a surprised and caught-out Keynsham Webmaster before the music took over until gone midnight into the early hours.

Monday 25th April 2005. The partners of Keynsham Lions Club raised £196 at the Lions Dinner Meeting Silent Auction to swell their total for the year towards the new Children's Hospice South West.
Saturday 16th April. Keynsham Lions President presented the medals after the Seals Swimming Gala in the Leisure Centre, Keynsham. The hire cost of the pool is one of the annual events the Club are pleased to support.

Thursday 7th April. Keynsham Lions Fashion Show attracted crowds of ladies and a few fellows! to see fashions displayed by the Bath shop of Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Travelling Trends and Special Day Designer Bridal Wear, Station Road Keynsham.

130 ladies watched the member's partners parade the catwalk with the 'professional' models showing fashions for all tastes including those planning their wedding arrangements.

Proceeds for the evening will support the Jessie May Trust and other Lions charities. Special thanks to Fry Club for their support.

Saturday 2nd April. Keynsham Lions were in-action at the Clock Tower during Lions Awareness Week with leaflets, posters and the Ordinary People Amazing Things video.

Easter 2005. Two dozen giant decorated Easter Eggs braved the hot weather in the town for the lucky winners.
Saturday 12th March. Twenty six carers were entertained by Keynsham Lions Club at the Bristol Industrial Museum to an afternoon performance of, 'Kiss me Kate'. A good package with afternoon tea and a traffic diversion for the coach, visiting places in Bristol city centre that some members of the party had not seen for ten years.

January 2005. Keynsham Lions Club thank the Keynsham and Saltford community for the huge support at the several Tsunami Disaster collections around the Town and for the individual donations received. We have forwarded £8,100 to Lions Clubs International Foundation for immediate relief aid in the South Asia Earthquake areas.

Friday 26th November. With Keynsham High Street closed, crowds poured into the Victorian Night evening. Father Christmas arrived on the Lions Carol Sleigh giving out sweets to the youngsters while hot chestnuts roasted and pork rolls were served as fast as the Lion helpers could keep up. An excellent evening thanks to the dry weather and the thousands of people in the High Street. 

Tuesday 27th October. Partners and friends of Keynsham Lions Club delivered 90 Christmas Shoeboxes, 15 hand knitted jumpers, soft toys and clothing for onward transportation to Aid Ukraine for distributed before Christmas in Lutsk by Missionaries in the area of Volhyn Province.

Thursday 21st October. 140 people packed St.John's Parish Church for the Lion's 'Concert for Keynsham'. Music was provided by The Redland Wind Band, the Impromptu Vocal Group and Leanne Brindle. The evening was sponsored by Brunel Flooring and a retiring collection was donated to the Church.

Saturday/Sunday 11/12th September - Keynsham Lions played hosts to 27 children from the Junior Gateway Club plus their carers at Barton Camp, Winscombe. The action packed weekend in the pool and sports activities provided plenty of fun and exhausted the Lions!

19th to 27th July. Keynsham Lions played host to three Youth Exchange visitors before they joined other young visitors from abroad at the 2004 Lions Youth Camp held at Millfield School, Street. The farewell evening barbecue concluded a busy last day at St. Fagans Visitors Centre.

Sunday 11th July 2004. In overcast weather, the rain held off for the Lions Annual Duck Race attracting huge crowds at the Music Festival in the Memorial Park. 2050 plastic ducks took to the water with their larger Corporate Ducks for the 4.15pm start to non-stop music by Brass Bands, Folk Groups and Solo Artists on the Bandstand.
7th July 2004. Keynsham Lions assist two families to attend the Barth Syndrome Foundation Conference and Clinic held by the most eminent medical experts every two years in Florida for evaluating their three children with the rare genetic heart disorder.

Friday 21st May. Keynsham Lions 34th Charter Anniversary was attended by District Governor Brian and 60 guests at the Centurion Hotel, Fosseway.
Saturday 1st May. Five Keynsham Lions and Partners attended MD Convention weekend in Bournemouth. A Convention of change was well received by the International President.

Keynsham Lions donated £4550 during '2003 European Year for People with Disabilities' across eighteen, mostly local appeals.
Saturday 3rd January 2004. Keynsham Lions raised £1180 from a special High Street collection for Iranian Earthquake Relief coordinated by Lions Clubs International worldwide. The earthquake on Boxing Day destroyed the town of Bam with tens of thousands of lives lost.

Friday 28th November 2003. Keynsham Lions arrived at the Victorian Night in the Town with Father Christmas in his Sleigh and manned three stalls at the action packed evening.

Sunday 12th October 2003 - Lion members and Friends completed the Walk for Diabetes around Ashton Court Park in aid of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Monday 8th September 2003 - Keynsham Lions agree to sponsor another Eye Camp to restore sight to patients attending mobile eye clinics in India.
Monday 28th July 2003. Keynsham Lions together with neighbouring Lions Clubs, hosted five ambassadors representing their country on the Lions Annual Youth Exchange. The party of five, from Taiwan, Israel, Australia, Finland and Brazil were part of a group of 19 guests staying in District 105W before departing for the Lions Youth Camp at Queen Alexandra College, Birmingham on Thursday 7th August.

Saturday 31st May 2003. Keynsham Lions Partners have raised £269 for Little Bridge House Children's Hospice from their three events, the Body Shop party, the Clothes evening and the International Supper event.

Keynsham Lions have attracting funds from Lions Clubs in the wider Bristol Area for nine Mobile Heart Monitoring Machines required by Bristol Children's Hospital.

Keynsham Lions presented the local Ambulance Station crews with 50 Parateds, teddies dressed in green paramedic suits that can be awarded to children who the ambulance crews consider have been particularly brave and shown courage in an emergency situation.

£250 donated to the Comprehensive Eye Services Programme in India to help incurably blind children attend ordinary schools and provide rehabilitation training for incurably blind adults.
Saturday 19th January 2003. Keynsham Lions Club presented the Club sponsored football kit to the eighteen members of Keynsham Town Junior team. The kit promoted the Lions logo and the website address www.keynshamlions.org.uk and after the army of photographers and spectators, all keen to support the new image, had completed the photo call, the team went on to win 5-0.
Keynsham Lions Club has financed two Eye Camps in the village of Dahej, in the Northwest State of Gujarat, India. 385 patients were treated by the mobile eye team and 32 referred to the Kasturba Eye Hospital in Jhagadia for sight restoration surgery. Lions Sight Savers have been supporting Eye Camps in India for almost three decades.
The Lions Eye Health Programme is potentially the most effective initiative aimed at preventing unnecessary blindness to be launched in the British Isles and Ireland in the last 50 years. LEHP was developed with the support of Diabetes UK, formerly the British Diabetic Association, and the International Glaucoma Association. Keynsham Lions Club introduced the Lions Eye Health Programme at a public presentation on. The launch attended by local groups, organisations, clubs and the local opticians was designed as the first step to roll out the programme across the community and increase awareness of eye disease and its possible prevention.
